Job Summary: As a Urologist, you will play a crucial role in the health needs of diverse urology
patients, including children, addressing surgical and medical conditions of the male and female
urinary tract system, as well as the male reproductive organs.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct thorough medical and psycho-social assessments, perform physical examinations, and diagnose urological conditions
• Develop comprehensive treatment plans and evaluate their effectiveness
• Participate actively in patient care through hospital rounds, morning reports, conferences, consultations, and ambulatory care
• Coordinate and provide surgery consultations throughout the hospital
• Provide health teaching and counselling to patients, empowering them to make informed choices about their health and treatment options
• Maintain accurate and timely patient records
• Assist in the development and review of policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure adherence to current medical standards
• Participate in quality improvement and assurance activities
• Provide patient education and consultative direction to other staff
• Maintain professionalism and adhere to patient confidentiality
• Coach and supervise junior medical staff, providing regular performance assessments
Required Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities:
• Doctor of Medicine degree (MBCHB) with Registration and License to Practice
• Member of Medical and Dental Council of Ghana or a recognised professional body
• Minimum of five (5) years post-specialisation experience
• Strong teamwork skills and exceptional communication abilities
• Critical thinking and organisational skills
• Attention to detail and ability to remain calm under pressure
• Extensive knowledge of current trends and developments in urology
• Profound understanding of the human body
• Experience with sophisticated medical equipment and complex procedures
• Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with staff, officials, and the public
